Friend or Foe's new AV performance ‘Afloat, In Land’ transforms the VG&M’s historic Leggate Theatre into a multi-channel video and sound environment as they present new musical works written during their three-month residency in a remote town on the north coast of Iceland, exploring themes, memories, myths and dreams connected with the people and places they encountered.

Musical elements emerge from layered environmental field recordings and live foley sound effects, activating audio-reactive visual projections programmed to reflect the fractured and shifting frozen landscapes, the flowing winds and waters, and the undulating land and sea.

Spatial audio effects reflect the movement of clouds and birds, the fluctuating light and colours due to the short days and long nights, and the dislocated sense of time and space.
